The Bazaar is an upcoming digital strategy game in which players will engage in an intergalactic marketplace and battles to overcome each other in a competitive environment. It is the first game developed by Tempo Storm, a professional esports team and entertainment organization that has participated in a variety of game competitions including Hearthstone, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege others, founded and led by Andrey “reynad” Yanyuk. And when it was announced in 2018, it was a traditional digital deck building game. But not so much now. In fact, the decks have completely disappeared as development progressed.
Starting today and until The Bazaar officially launches every Friday in 2021, you can watch a new behind-the-scenes video for an in-depth look at how the game is evolving. The first video, entitled “Why Decks Are a Problem”, runs for almost 15 minutes and is now live. In it, you get an in-depth look at The Bazaar, including the game’s original concept evolving beyond a deck builder and into something entirely different.
“The problem with our game a year ago was that it started out complicated,” says Yanyuk in the video. “I thought this was a good thing to start with, but in reality it just makes the game a little tiring to play. So we wanted to fix that. “He catches up with lead design Ben Shumaker to get further insight into the design process and how they turned The Bazaar into a new concept that is a digital strategy game – especially without decks.
“I know this can disappoint some of you,” says Yanyuk after abandoning the design process and decisions that led to the complete removal of decks. “I know a lot of you guys are really excited about the idea that we’re making a digital deck building game. But we honestly believe we need to fix these mechanics in order to make the best game we can make. It’s archaic, out of date, and the only reason to keep it up is stubbornness and nostalgia for deck builders. “
Similar to The Bazaar, Tempo Storm plans for these videos to evolve and show the game’s growth. The videos will also feature the evolution of the game, giving fans an in-depth look at what to expect from hands-on gameplay before the title is officially released.
You can follow Tempo Storm’s development from The Bazaar on its official website, Twitter page, Facebook, Instagram and Twitch accounts. The bazaar is expected to appear in mid-2021.
