Moving more than 60 state-of-the-art residential suites to a new cabin park in South Australia is one of the many freight tasks that the Bentley Group will entrust to MaxiTRANS with their new, purpose-built Freighter Drop Deck Semi. The multi-purpose trailer should later find its way in the other business areas of the company and offer great versatility for the different operational processes.
Following the success of the Port Pirie project, Bentleys Cabin Parks will soon open their new, fully self-contained accommodation park in Port Augusta. As part of the Bentley Group, the cabin parking division was founded in 1995 when founder and CEO Hayden Bentley built four cabins inspired by his travels in Australia with his family.
The Bentley Group is a diversified agriculture, hospitality, and construction company. The new cabins for the Port Augusta location will be built on the company’s own construction yards in South Australia. To transport these cabins, Hayden recently invested in a new Freighter Drop Deck Semi with ramps.
“We previously bought aluminum tippers from MaxiTRANS and picked up a new multi-purpose Freighter Drop Deck semi-trailer in February. We had the trailer built specifically for our special needs. The cabins that we transport by trailer have one or two bedrooms, the longest of which is around 10.3 meters long. So we wanted the base of the deck to be 10.5 meters for the cabin to fit on. The double-folding ramps have been made removable to make it easier to put on and take off the cabins. We even had it in a color matched to our new prime mover so that it also looks good on the road, ”says Hayden.
Although this trailer is specifically designed for Bentley’s Cabin Park purposes, it is also a general purpose trailer. As a result, it is also used to move various types of loads, including heavy machinery for the company’s other farm and construction equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, and graders.
The Freighter Drop Deck Semi-Trailer can deliver a low dead weight and transport high loads, machines and silage. With the freighter’s short, extra-strong gooseneck, the Drop Deck Semi can be designed to optimize the pallet capacity and spacing on both the upper and lower deck, depending on the specific cargo requirements.
The widely spaced main beams, combined with the low-profile frame, ensure complete stability and center of gravity. Using durable cross members provides a more robust and reliable trailer. Hayden opted for the optional pull-out ramps to allow the load to move between the lower and upper decks.
“The build quality is fantastic. Unlike some of the other ramp trailers we’ve used in the past, the ramps on the new freighter trailer showed no signs of rust or physical damage, ”says Hayden.
“We have already had good experiences with MaxiTRANS – we bought aluminum dump trucks from them and were very satisfied with them. Given our good experience with MaxiTRANS in the past, it was an obvious decision for us to go back to them. We knew we had to stick to what we trusted and what we knew. So it was an easy decision to go for the Freighter Drop Deck Semi. “
“We have been using MaxiTRANS products for almost 10 years and it was good to work with them again. They made the trailer exactly how we wanted it. The finished product is excellent. You thought of everything and finished it on time. We trust Australian manufacturing and we like quality. We understand that cheap isn’t always the best, so we’re willing to pay for quality, ”says Hayden.
