The audit move includes replacing the FRC with a more capable Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority (ARGA).
It is also planned to help smaller accounting firms like Mazars, BDO and Grant Thornton compete at the top end of the Big Four dominated market.
The FRC said it remained determined to introduce other aspects of the reform package over time and that discussions on “joint reviews” with the Big Four were ongoing.
