He took money from others to build decks but didn’t do the job or only did part of it from 2016-19. He also took money from other customers while on bail.
Typically, contractor issues are civil disputes, but the Sarpy County Prosecutor’s Office indicates that there was a clear pattern of criminal activity.
Frank Howard said he prepaid Sherwood a third of a construction materials contract, but he later made excuses for why the contract never started.
Howard said he had checked his company, which had no problems, but when he looked up Sherwood’s name he saw that others had been defrauded.
“We were very pleased with the City of Papillion and Sarpy County that they tracked it at this level because it’s the dollar amount, it’s the frequency, it’s the throwback. He’s doing that over and over and he’s got to do that.” Impose consequences for his actions, “explained Howard.
Sherwood is sentenced in April. He could at least not get a jail sentence, parole, and / or fine. He could only be sentenced to a maximum of about 33 years in prison.
He is currently in Sarpy County Jail.
