Western standard News editor Dave Naylor has spent more than a month researching Caylan Ford’s history. Ford sure seemed like a potential political star – smart, photogenic, and ready to make a mark.
She was recruited by Jason Kenney to run for the UCP in Alberta in the 2019 election. Ford appeared to be on its way to fame when rumors shot them down in flames and news planted on an NDP affiliated propaganda news website.
Ford blames one man for their downfall – Karim Jivraj. Much of this story is almost unbelievable and would not have been taken seriously by Western standards without the hard evidence its staff received. Over the next week, Naylor will back up her story with interviews and court documents.
Karim Jivraj has admitted under oath to sending false sexual innuendos under fake Twitter handles to ruin the reputation of a possible Star Tory recruit and other women in politics.
Jivraj ran as Tory in the 2015 general election in Toronto and took third place. He had sought the nomination at the Calgary Center – but the Conservative Party refused to let him go.
The fake tweets he sent appeared to be an attempt to overturn the candidacy of Caylan Ford, a woman who apparently had an odd fascination with Jivraj.
Ford, who was recruited for the UCP by Jason Kenney, ran for riding from Calgary-Mountainview.
In 2017, Jivraj ran a pseudonymous Twitter account, @ TeamBlue2018, through which he made allegations against a number of conservative political candidates in Ontario, including allegations of fraud, corruption and sexual innuendo against female candidates. He also started using an account called @ serena84.
Fake Jivraj tweet
When questioned by Ford’s attorney RE Harrison, Jivraj admitted to being the author of the fake tweets.
Q.:: Did you write and publish these tweets under the pseudonym “TeamBlue2018”?
A: Yes.
When interviewed by Harrison, Jivraj also admitted that fake tweets were targeting other women.
Q.:: Now, if you refer to Appendix A for identification, will you agree that some of these tweets involve a person named Sue Liu? And I can refer you specifically to page 3 of the document.
A: Yes
Q: Ms. Liu was a nominee for horseback riding in Don Valley North? You suggest in the tweets that Ms. Liu had a close relationship with Bob Stanley, executive director of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario?
A: I can see that.
Fake tweet
Q: And would you agree to this suggestion?
A: It was a rumor I heard, yes.
Q: You then suggest that Ms. Liu received preferential treatment because of her close relationship with Mr. Stanley?
A: Yes.
Q: And you said it was based on a rumor you heard?
A: Yes. From a pretty credible source. Yes.
In early March 2018, Jivraj informed another political candidate that Ford had made false allegations of sexual harassment against the person. He later admitted that Ford hadn’t done this.
Fake retweet
Q What did you say to Mr. Schuman that: (as read) She says you have made inappropriate progress with her relates to Ms. Ford?
A: I think so.
Q: You inform Mr. Schuman that Ms. Ford alleges that Mr. Schuman has made inappropriate progress with Ms. Ford?
A: It seems so.
Q: This statement is wrong?
A: It was worded terribly.
Q: This statement is wrong?
A: It’s very poorly worded.
Q: How does it affect what actually happened?
(NO VERBAL REPLY)
Q: I just have a few more questions about Schuman. Has Ms. Ford ever alleged that Mr. Schuman made inappropriate progress on her?
A: That was a ––
Q: Just answer the question. Did she say so or not? I don’t need a fork. I don’t need a monologue.
A: Not exactly.
Q: Okay. Many Thanks.
A: It was a terrible miscommunication.
Q: Yes, I would say.
The story of Karim Jivraj’s campaign against Ford and other conservative women is just too incredible to be told in a single article. Because of this, the Western Standard decided to break it down into a series that addresses several of the actions taken by Mr. Jivraj. It’s a story we didn’t believe in until we got the evidence.
NEXT STORY: Tory admits online campaign to harass women
BEFORE: It’s a case of sex, lies, and provocateurs. It’s a story of how a fake story based culture mob that ruined the life of an aspiring political star woman ruined the life.
