LEGO VIDIYO has just released its new collection of sets, including BeatBoxes, Bandmates, BeatBits and some of the most unique LEGO minifigures to date. To spread the word about this new topic, the LEGO Group teamed up with mechanical engineer Sam Battle and asked him to develop a working DJ turntable with LEGO and LEGO compatible electronics.
The deck is certainly eye-catching with its mixes of pink, blue and the white VIDIYO logo, but the most interesting parts are inside the device. Sam incorporated a combination of MINDSTORMS, systems, engineering, and even a custom LEGO-compatible circuit board.
Even LLAMA appears as a guest to test the finished product. BeatBit buttons activate a variety of sound effects. It’s definitely an impressive feat considering how much of the machine is just LEGO bricks.
LEGO VIDIYO is one of the more experimental themes from the LEGO group that tries to combine music and bricks with a dedicated app and series of sets. Even the most recent podcast on Our LEGO Stories covered the history of the subject, which all started with a meeting under the stairs.
LEGO VIDIYO is now available with six BeatBoxes and a new series of blindbox minifigures in 43101 Bandmates.
