Developer Sam Sinnott and investment partner Mircea Voskerician who bought a plot of land on Santa Cruz Ave. in 1825. bought for redevelopment had been fighting for permission to create a paved driveway that led to Louise Street. The exit would have partially crossed the public driveway. A previous owner had received permission to install a driveway in 1984, but, according to the city, it was never continued.
The city employees first approved Mr. Sinnott’s driveway. But in the face of protests from residents of Louise Street, the council revoked the permit and allowed the demolition process after an attempted compromise collapsed.
