.The Road Safety Commission is investigating the possible introduction of a subsidy program to retrofit WA vehicles with reversing cameras after the death of a 19-month-old girl from Perth.
Aurora Ellis died at her family’s home in Bayswater in June when she was accidentally hit by a car that was driven by her mother.
Her parents Preston and Lara Ellis have been campaigning for “Aurora’s Law” ever since.
Under the proposed law, all vehicles in WA would have to be equipped with backward sensor movements.

Road Safety Commissioner Adrian Warner, however, threw cold water on the idea, but said his agency will investigate whether reversing cameras are waning to improve driveway and road safety across the state.
“We don’t think sensors are part of this solution, but we’re looking at cameras,” he said.
In July, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis spoke about their fear of the driveway tragedy.
“I turned around and she was there … and I didn’t even see her. I didn’t see her and then she’s gone and our family will never be the same, ”Mrs. Ellis said.
“We will always be broken, we will never be whole again. Ever. Ever. “
Mr. Ellis said he was cooking dinner when Aurora, unknown to him, went into the driveway where she was accidentally hit by Mrs. Ellis’ car after returning from the shops.
“I ran out and saw my wife holding our daughter and she was gone and Lara told me to call an ambulance and help her so they can put her back together and fix it … she was just too broken to fix be … our perfect The little life was over, “she said.

The Ellis believe that if they had reversing sensors on their car, their “little lady” would still be alive.
“We have pool gates, we have so many other things, we have airbags in our cars. We have everything that helps us and protects us.
“But the only thing our child could have protected wasn’t even on my mind.”

(NBC News) – Tonight on “Dateline” is former York Mayor Melvin Roberts, a wealthy businessman and legendary defender in his small town. When he is found murdered, detectives discover that there is an overwhelming list of potential suspects.
Here is a preview of Andrea Canning’s report:
The police on duty raced through the rainy night with their dashboard cameras rolling, expecting to investigate a robbery.
But what they found was Detective Billy Mumaw’s phone rang as he sat down for dinner.
BILLY MUMAW: I got a call at home and said she – I had to come in. There was a robbery.
As the detective walked up the driveway to the back of the house, he spotted a woman huddled in her car. She was tied up with duct tape.
BILLY MUMAW: I went to the car and noticed that she had duct tape around her head. She also had duct tape around her wrists.
On Friday at 10.9. A woman is found tied up with duct tape. We asked an expert how one can become free in this situation. And @CanningAndrea was a game to try. Here is some news that you can use, though we hope you never have to … pic.twitter.com/k5NME668WI

And no more than a few meters from this blue and white suburb, the police found a bloody and lifeless gray-haired man.
It was a bit of a shock to Detective Mumaw. The victim was someone he knew well.
BILLY MUMAW: It was pretty surreal.
The man on the ground was Melvin Roberts and everyone knew him. He was a former mayor of York, one of the city’s richest businessmen, and a legendary defender.
BILLY MUMAW: I’ve had a couple of cases with him. A bit strict, but always friendly.
And the woman who called the local police was Julia Phillips, Melvin’s longtime friend.
BILLY MUMAW: She was concerned that Melvin was dead. She said she didn’t know what happened to him.
The local investigators told Julia the devastating news. Melvin had been murdered.
ANDREA CANNING: Is that a little jerk, Melvin Roberts is the victim?
BILLY MUMAW: Yeah. Because Melvin is not the type of person to fall victim to anything.
