HPD was investigating a fatal shootout on the 800 block of Marleen Street in southeast Houston on Wednesday, January 6th. A homeowner reportedly shot dead a man who broke into his car.

A homeowner shot dead a man who broke into his vehicle Wednesday night in southeast Houston, police said.
The resident heard something outside his home on the 800 block on Marleen Street in the Edgebrook area, said Sgt. William Dunn of the Houston Police Department. At around 8:40 p.m., he stepped outside and saw a man break into his car parked in his driveway.

The resident, who had a firearm, confronted the man and fired his gun once, fatally killing him, Dunn said. The suspect had been in the car stealing property.
The case will be referred to a Harris County grand jury to determine whether charges will be brought.
The police are continuing their investigation.
