“你得到警觉,立即有一种恐惧感–哦,有人要伤害我了。”Palazzolo说。 This “ was a 4-year-old on a balance bike – every night – like clockwork.
“Ping, ‘person in the driveway.’ And you say, ‘Argh, you interrupt my Netflix!’ “Said Palazzolo.
Dave Palazzolo
Palazzolo said he was 50 years old.
“You’re a bit young to do the whole lawn thing,” CBS News told Palazzolo, to which he laughed and replied, “I know, right?”
But he said something had to be done. Under cover of darkness he went into his driveway and wrote a message to the boy in which he basically said, “Child, you win.”
The next day this scene unfolded. “You can almost see the look on his face when he gets it and then he just storms in,” said Palazzolo.
That was in June, and from that day until today Palazzolo’s driveway racetrack has remained. Whenever the weather washes it away, he just draws another one. He even built a fixture to keep the lines straight and is now researching famous racetracks for track authenticity. This guy is really serious about his chalk on the sidewalk.
“Chances are you’ve got more to do with it now than he is,” CBS News told Palazzolo.
“It is quite possible,” he replied.
Let’s actually call it a tie.

The 4-year-old named Quinn discovers Palazzolo’s newest creation. Before the surveillance camera went off for the first time, Palazzolo had never met Quinn or his family. But all summer he helped raise the boy – in this little way.
“It was amazing,” said Quinn’s father Josh. “Just that we can be a part of something like this – that we can see the good side of humanity. It feels good.”
There are a lot of great dads out there. But the true measure of a man is not how he raises his own children – it is how he raises the village.

Crews working at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Portland have moved a concrete wall and fence that illegally blocked three downtown streets for three months. The move comes as a lawsuit filed Wednesday by the City of Portland and the City of Oakland against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, labeling the fence as an illegal interference with our public right of way.

A cyclist had to merge from July 2020 due to the blocked cycle path in this photo.

The fence on the south-west Main (between the 2nd and 3rd) and on the 3rd (between Salmon and Main) was erected on July 18th after weeks of night-time protests by contractors who work for the federal protection services. US attorney Billy Williams said it was installed “to ease tension between protesters and federal law enforcement officers and to enable much-needed building repairs to begin.”
However, the federal government never got permission to erect the fence and refused to remove it despite demands from the City of Portland. The Feds claim they have a right to federal property protection under Section 40 of the US Code.
The fence has completely blocked one lane, forcing bike and car users to band together, and in violation of Portland city safety guidelines. Not only did the fence pose a security risk, it was also placed in the public right of way without a permit. On July 23, the City of Portland sent a cease and desist letter to the regional head of the US General Services Administration (the agency responsible for the courthouse).
“The structure is completely blocking the cycle path and needs to be removed immediately,” wrote Transportation Bureau Director Chris Warner, adding that fines and legal action would be imposed.

On July 28, PBOT Commissioner Chloe Eudaly said the agency would fine the federal government a $ 500 fine every 15 minutes. According to FenceFine.com, the bill owed Portland is approximately $ 4 million.
At a meeting of the Portland Bureau of Transportation’s budget advisory council last night, PBOT director Chris Warner was asked if the government had paid their fine. “I wish they would,” replied Warner, “they were sure they weren’t going to pay.” Warner added that PBOT is talking to prosecutors about whether or not the city should take further legal action to enforce the fine.
On Wednesday, October 14th, the City of Portland signed a lawsuit with the City of Oakland against US Attorney General William Barr and Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf. As reported by Bloomberg News yesterday, Portland Mayor spokesman Ted Wheeler said, “The case challenges the worst example of the federal government illegally broadcasting its far-reaching policies onto the streets of Portland, contrary to the values and needs of local people Community violates. “
The fence is named in the lawsuit as part of a list of unauthorized actions by the federal government in Portland:
“The defendants continue to take new or illegal actions under the policy. For example, the DHS put up a fence and barriers around the Hatfield Federal Courthouse in Portland and refused to remove them, which are under the city-controlled public right of way. The fence and barriers that extend into adjacent Main Street effectively block an entire bike path without Portland’s permission. The fence and barriers also extend onto Third Avenue, effectively blocking vehicle travel in one lane. “
The lawsuit (PDF or embedded below) also states that the Portland City FPS emailed the City of Portland on October 7, 2020 that its contractor moved the fence to gain access to a storm drain and was expecting it that the fence will be moved back from the bike path in the next few weeks. “
Relations between Portland and the federal government remain tense as elections approach and President Trump threatens to wield his power over Democrat-run cities.
We have contacted Commissioner Eudaly and Mayor Wheeler’s office for information and will provide more information as soon as we hear about it.
