An Atlanta police spokeswoman said the Fast and Furious star left the key fob in the luxury vehicle’s cup holder overnight on Monday. The truck was gone the next morning.

According to the Atlanta Journal constitution, security footage showed a limo stopping at Gibson’s driveway at around 2 a.m. and a man exiting the passenger side of the vehicle. Then he approached the Range Rover, got in, and drove away.

Atlanta police said the upscale Buckhead community had seen a surge in vehicle thefts during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We keep seeing this pattern,” said the Atlanta deputy police chief Michael O’Connor the Journal Constitution said last month. “I think about 70 percent of the vehicles stolen this year were keyfob stolen.”

The theft came the same day Gibson announced that he and his wife were four years old. Samantha Gibson, plan to get divorced.

“As if 2020 hadn’t already been extremely stressful and challenging for all of us, we now wanted to talk to each other about it in order to get this energy in 2020 and not bring this energy into 2021,” they said in a joint statement, which was published on his Instagram. “We would appreciate your most sincere prayers and respect our privacy at this time as we deal with the reality in which we find ourselves.”

The couple has a two year old daughter Soraya Lee.

In a separate Instagram post, Gibson wrote, “Black families and marriages are under attack … pain has brought me back to the holy grail (the studio).”

He noted that he has no plans to record an album about his experiences.

Instead, he wrote a tribute: “My heart is so full because you blessed me with 5 years of magic … Samantha Gibson, I owe you everything. I am a better man of God, friend and father because of you. ”
