Book of Demons is a hack-and-slash title with deck-building elements that originally left Early Access on PC in 2018. Today developers Thing Trunk announced that it will head for the iPad on February 13th, where it is called Book of Demons: Tablet Edition.
If you’re unfamiliar with Book of Demons, it is a procedurally generated dungeon crawler that allows players to determine the length of a quest using a system called Flexiscope. This essentially means that if you have a little more time, you can make a shorter dungeon, and the developers say you get similar “game flow” as someone who creates an hour-long dungeon.
By “game flow” they mean that each dungeon still has the same ratio of combat, downtime, and bosses, rather than just being shorter. If you prefer to play games with a little more risk, there is also a roguelike mode for an extra challenge. It’s great to see that Thing Trunk offers so many different ways to meet different needs.
The overall goal for players is to save the Paperverse from a powerful arch demon. The reason it’s called Paperverse is because all environments look like they’re made up of paper. It looks like a living pop-up book, and characters even move up and down South Park style, which is a nice touch.
There are three different classes you can play in: warrior, villain, and mage. Instead of weapons, you can use a deck of cards instead. There are 40 cards in the game with legendary variants for specific classes. So it’s about choosing the right cards to defeat one of the 70 different monsters.
Book of Demons: The Tablet Edition will be available in the App Store from February 13th. You can also pre-order them now if you want. It will be a premium title that will cost $ 4.99 at launch but up to $ 9.99 shortly afterwards.

Roguelike games for building decks on mobile devices have enjoyed increasing popularity since Slay the Spire first appeared due to the lack of mobile connectivity for a while. But now the forerunner of this subgenre is playable on phones, at least for iOS. That said, it might be harder for smaller games to get noticed. That didn’t stop developer Ohayoo, who released Journey Of Abyss for iOS and Android.
As the name suggests, Journey of Abyss takes inspiration from Cthulhu mythology, so you can expect some Eldritch gadgets on your way through the game’s story mode. They specifically tried to deliver a compelling story about the common deck building mechanics that players may be familiar with.
If you don’t care too much about the narration, there are several other modes you can dive into instead. There is the Abyssal mode in which the players simply fight their way through randomly generated levels and face a variety of monsters with several difficulty levels.
There are also weekly challenges with prizes for players who get the highest scores. There’s also a PvP mode called Tower of Souls where players don’t have access to the usual talent tree or other buffs, only their trusted deck.
Ohayoo says they want to keep a more pure deck building game than other titles in the genre, avoiding many of the RPG elements and equipment upgrade systems commonly used in some games. Instead, they want the focus to be mostly on the deck building itself.
Journey Of Abyss is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It’s a premium title that costs $ 0.99.

Meteor Fall: Krumit’s story was revealed for the first time last year as a kind of continuation of the excellent Meteor Fall. It’s been available on Steam for a while and will be leaving Early Access on July 23rd. But that’s not all that has to do with Krumit’s Tale. It was announced today that Slothwerks will start a beta test for iOS and Android devices on July 16.
This will be a closed beta test and invitations are now open. All you have to do is fill out the beta test form with your preferred platform and appropriate email addresses. From there, a group of people will be randomly selected to take part. Invitations will be sent out from July 16. More testers will be added in the following weeks.
In addition, the game supports the ability to move progress from Steam to mobile. For this purpose, players can click the “Export Data” button in the game to generate a 5-digit code. From there, they can import their storage onto their preferred platform without having to unlock heroes and cards a second time.
If you’re not familiar with Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale, it’s a rogue deck builder where players battle their way through dungeons with cards. Over time, they will unlock more cards to add power to their deck, as well as a handful of perks that they can take advantage of as well. Krumit’s Tale wants to expand the swipe system of the original by introducing a 3×3 grid to achieve more depth.
Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale will be available in the App Store and Google Play at some point. It will be a premium title that costs $ 6.99. There’s no official release date yet, but the developers hope it will in the next few months, depending on how beta tests go.

Iris and the Giant is an RPG and deck building hybrid that launched on Steam in early February of this year. It is now available for iOS devices and will be released for Android soon too. Pre-registers are currently open.
You will take on the role of Iris, a young girl who has to face her fears in her own imaginary world. As the game progresses, you’ll unlock fragments of memory that reveal the reasons for Iris’ journey in her own mind. It takes place in a beautiful, minimalist world, where she has to metaphorically and literally fight her inner demons.
To fight these admittedly adorable monsters, Iris must put together a deck of cards to fight them off. This will evolve as the game progresses. After each battle, you’ll need to choose the next card to add to your collection, taking into account your strategy in order to create a more capable deck.
There are 51 cards to collect in the game, as well as various options that allow you to specialize your character and customize the style of play you choose. Check out the gameplay of Iris and the Giant in the embedded trailer below.
It promises a progressive difficulty curve so that players unfamiliar with deck building roguelikes don’t feel too lost at the start of the game. It does get tougher, however, apparently, so even seasoned fans of the genre will find a satisfying challenge.
